Electronic Warfare Calibration
Electronic Warfare calibration facilities enable real-time calibration performance testing of electronic warfare (EW) systems fitted onto military platforms such as ships, submarines and helicopters.
The capability uses the electromagnetic spectrum to prevent any adversary from using its own weapons effectively. This involves searching for intercept identify-and-locate radiated electromagnetic energy for the purpose of immediate threat recognition.
The capability can provide representative signals to systems to mimic various targets, threats and situations.
In practice, the capability operates by using EW calibration equipment and aiming a calibrated signal at the platform. This enables the platform’s onboard electronic surveillance measurement system to detect and measure the signal, and hence check and recalibrate the platform’s systems.
