Electromagnetic Signature Services
The Electromagnetic Signature Service (ESS) capability operates and analyses fixed open sea and harbour entrance Ranges for ships and submarines.
The capability involves optimising installed degaussing system settings, monitoring electromagnetic signatures, conducting analysis and offering advice. The ESS team can also be deployed to other facilities worldwide.
The teams also carry out the magnetic treatment of submarines at Kings Bay Naval Base, Georgia, using the US Department of Defense (DOD) magnetic silencing facility.
A transportable multi-influence range (TxR) is capable of detecting and gathering electromagnetic measurements. It is available for deployment in any suitable stretch of water worldwide.
Training is also provided to naval and civilian personnel in all aspects of signature management.
