Under the LTPA, QinetiQ’s demilitarisation capability has specialist facilities for the disposal of conventional MOD munitions (excluding chemical, biological or nuclear). The following services can be provided:

• Waste incineration for small and medium calibre munitions licenced for operation by the Environment Agency
• Reverse engineering and munitions breakdown
• Sorting and salvage
• Open burning, including contained cage burning to minimise explosive hazard and projection
• Open detonation of ammunition and explosives (used only where safety does not allow other means of disposal)
